BlogRush Reveals WordPress Blogging Buddy

BlogRush helped me find a WordPress blogging buddy, not that he was lost.

I mentioned the other day that the Internet seems a small place at times.

As I was BlogRushing last week, I spotted a comment to an interesting article. The unusual name reminded me of a blogger who had helped me with a WordPress blog in the past. Sure enough, a click on his name revealed my old buddy.

As you know, I love BlogRush because it makes networking amongst like-minded bloggers very easy. I call these new friends my BlogRush Buddies.

But this is a story more about blogging buddies than BlogRush. Or is it?

When I was looking at marcofolio.net, I clicked an interesting BlogRush link, then an interesting article source which led me to my old WordPress blogging buddy. A convoluted path, but with two interesting blogs on the way. I won’t say too much now, as those two intermediate links are worth separate articles.

WordPress Blogging

When I start a WordPress blog (or even a static WordPress site, which is very easy), I usually begin with some acknowledgments to plugin authors, and other people who have helped. For authentic BlogRush feel, I launched this blog before it was really ready, and I forgot those acknowledgments.

This post marks the start of BlogGush phase 1.5 where one of the tasks is to acknowledge some of the help I’ve received.

I love WordPress, but it would not be half as effective without some very useful plugins. The one which I salute here is TD Word Count. It counts the words in your posts, with loads of sorting and filtering options. Very simple and very effective - particularly if you submit some of your posts to article publishers, where word count is vital.

I also use it for articles that I don’t publish on my blog - I write the article in WordPress as a private or draft article. This means it’s automatically backed up with the rest of my blog, and filed where it is most relevant.

So if you haven’t used it yet, get the WordPress Word Count plugin from TDavid’s download page, and let TD Word Count become one of your WordPress blogging buddies.

Interestingly, I can see no mention of BlogRush on any of TDavid’s blogs. I’ll have to see if I can change that - unless you get there first.
